Spain's Ministry of Equality has condemned the presumed femicide of a 34-year-old woman in the province of Madrid, allegedly killed by her partner. Her body was discovered on 19 September 2026. The victim had no minor children, and no prior complaints of gender-based violence had been filed against the alleged perpetrator.

With this case confirmed, the number of women killed by intimate partner or former partner violence in Spain rises to 38 in 2026 and to 1,379 since 2003, when the collection of such data began.

Equality Minister Ana Redondo García and the Government's Delegate against Gender-Based Violence, Carmen Martínez Perza, expressed their "most absolute condemnation and rejection" of the killing and conveyed their full support to the victim's family and friends. Both officials called on institutions, public administrations, and society as a whole to make every possible effort to intervene in time and prevent further deaths from this form of violence.

The Ministry of Equality, through the Government Delegation against Gender-Based Violence, highlighted the range of support services available around the clock, every day of the week. The helpline 016 offers advice on available resources and victims' rights across all forms of violence against women, as well as legal counsel from 08:00 to 22:00 daily, in 53 languages and with services adapted for people with disabilities. In emergency situations, the authorities remind the public to call 112, the National Police on 091, or the Civil Guard on 062. Where a voice call is not possible, the ALERTCOPS app can be used to send a geo-located alert directly to police. The Ministry stressed that all these services can be activated not only by victims themselves, but by anyone who knows or suspects a case of gender-based violence, calling it "a duty of all of society to react."
